Role: Highly critical for environmental ancillary services. Because significant pockets of New Jersey carry high radon gas risks, and wood-destroying insects present a major threat to structural wood frames, local home inspectors closely interface with the NJDEP. Inspectors who provide official wood-destroying organism (WDO) clearance letters or perform radon testing must secure distinct, separate technician certifications through the NJDEP to operate legally.
